Martina Latimer, originally from Austria, is a Brisbane based textile artist. She designs contemporary quilt patterns, teaches quilting for all skill levels and loves to make art with fabrics. Her work has featured in a number of magazines including ELLE decoration and The World of Interiors. In 2019, she did an ‘Australia first’ by sewing on air as studio artist of “The Art Show” on ABC Radio National. Martina has taught contemporary quilting in London at Sutton College and the London Metropolitan University.

Martina created ‘Paper Cut Quilting’ aiming to bring something new to the quilting world. She used the underlying method of Hawaiian quilting and con-temporised that by moving away from its shape restrictions as well as by her use of colours. Martina created a technique that pays homage to the traditional method and is distinctly modern and progressive at the same time.
